Bokkusu, Trinket boxes

When I started to think about a new collection of ceramics for Cabana and produced by Bitossi, I thought to approach it with the idea to combine both practical and aesthetic purposes and so this collection of trinket boxes started to take shape. I have been particularly attracted to by the millennial history of Japanese and Chinese lidded vessels, therefor the name Bokkusu, box in Japanese. The particularity of these boxes is that all of them are both, vessels and lids, that means you can stack them one on the top of each other with the possibility to create totem like sculptural compositions without taking there functional aspect out. It’s kind of a take on deconstructing the Russian Matrioska, instead of putting one inside the other I’ve put them one on the top of the other which allows to combine them infinitely.
